ANNOUNCEMENT: At last! Word In Your Ear comes to you!

Dear Friend of Word In Your Ear,

Our last Word In Your Ear event, with guests Pete Paphides and Dan Franklin, took place on March 9th in our traditional venue in Islington.

This was a long time ago, we’re sure you’ll agree.

Clearly there’s no way of knowing when, or even if, normal live event service will be resumed.

However, we’re not standing still.

Over the last few months we’ve launched three new services: our Word In Your Attic zoomcasts which appear on YouTube, our regular weekly audio podcasts which are also available on video to our Patreon subscribers and our Friday evening quizzes also for our Patreon supporters.

And now for something completely different.

Next week sees the return of Word In Your Ear, our regular series which began in 2012, in which we talk to authors about their music-related books. In future this will be recorded in even better quality via Crowdcast and will be available soon after in both video and audio.

Obviously you won’t be able to buy a ticket to be present in the Islington on the night because, well, we won’t be there either. Instead, without leaving the comfort of your own home, you can be present in our virtual studio audience as the actual chat happens. Furthermore you’ll be able to ask questions of the author and have those questions form part of the finished podcast/videocast.

The first of these new look Word In Your Ear events takes place at 1pm on Wednesday July 8th when our guest will be Graeme Thomson who’ll be talking about his new and enthralling book Small Hours: The Long Night of John Martyn which has already been described as “a painstaking eloquent biography” (The Guardian).

We’re genuinely excited about this new departure because in future it will enable us to reach a wider range of authors, both in this country and overseas, and at the same time enables people who don’t live within reach of Islington to get closer to, and take part in, the action.

To qualify for this exclusive access you’ll need to be an Access All Areas subscriber on Patreon. This will cost £15 a month.

In addition to this privileged access to Word In Your Ear you will get access to all your existing benefits PLUS:

You’ll have access to audio of our Word In Your Attic zoomcasts to provide you with further hours of entertainment without being tethered to your computer

AND on your birthday you can be the special guest star in your own Word In Your Attic, in the course of which you show and tell David and Mark all about your objets de rock, personal souvenirs, faded tee shirts, treasured tickets, pre-loved singles and you finally can set the world straight on subjects on which the world has been going wrong for some considerable time, such as the name of the Greatest Record Ever Made. This will be viewable by all your fellow Patrons and, if you like, we can send you a private link which you can share with your friends.

We hope you’ll be able to join us next Wednesday and be a part of this exciting new chapter in the Word story.

Onwards!

David, Mark and Alex
