On Tuesday February 13, Word In Your Ear is thrilled to be shining its spotlight on a full-scale legend, the highly entertaining torch-bearer of Jethro Tull. He’s about to start a tour celebrating their first 50 years.
There’ll be excited talk of extraordinary nights playing the Isle Of Wight Festival and the Rolling Stones’ Rock And Roll Circus, and of early tours with Led Zeppelin and Vanilla Fudge. There’ll be fond reflections about colourful stagewear and the tweedy pipe-smoking attire of the landed gentry. We’ll ask if the Eagles nicked Hotel California from his very own We Used To Know. We might even mention the time he had lunch with Mikhail Gorbachev.
He’s fronted the band, written its songs, and managed its grand total of 27 members while fashions came and went and scores of other acts crashed and burned around him, and he views the rock landscape in a unique and original way. And with a rare wit and wisdom. This will be a great night and a fascinating untold story.
He wants to kick off at 7.15pm sharp so he can be back home in the country before closing time. Get your tickets quick.
